I won't be coming to your town that ship has sailed for parts once known a grin that's waving from the dock just wanderlust left at a loss shot for some stars and came up naught it's not a failure fantasy oh, countrymen don't cry for me I'll ease into an easy chair lifers could never leave the line a well of knowledge running dry I wish you well I wish you wise wish I could join but it's my time a dozen months baptized in fire driving this organic machine a hundred souls have come and gone but you won't have to worry about this one cause I won't be coming to your town old men just clutter up the scene oh cap'n take your ship to sea I won't be coming to your town

a leaf stuck to the windshield like a feather in the trunk like a wing that I've been preying on for years like a tape stuck to the drive let it play, rewind, replay a dozen hits that just keep hitting all the fields throw some caution to your wishes cause we got em we're doing grand sands of time slip through, just flip it over strike up the band inside. a monumental time I work my finger to the bone as I relearn to speak in codes of ones and threes a life more ordinary here a cautious calculated dream though imperfections come to light I'd prefer to never leave and throw some caution to your wishes cause we got em we're doing grand sands of time slip through just flip it over strike up the band hand of time stops by to say it's over strike up the band

on this date I came late to your party showed up just as you left town as friends were embracing departure I found myself lost in your home it washed like a wave so soft it sent salt to my eyes left parched and procuring and drinking it just past it's time for the moment our mother breathes vibrance less the toxic exhaust from her son blessed with the burden of knowledge of what our social indifference has done lessons ingested of old stevens and a bitter old young observed and ignoring the taste that now rests on your tongue I may have imbibed on the joy thats derived as coyotes walk calm in the street I've no rush for four walls just to find that it's three that I need for days I stayed late past your party tipped my hat said my peace and moved on

in a basement we built the sound of self destruction create a strange soundscape with useless wooden toys off to a late night sacred rooftop western sky sanctuary sanctuary solace from the space there in between no shallow pond to search along or skip a stone just throw a rock and run adrenaline drag me to the edge of the abyss and stare it down where I'd beg to leave but quietly strange escape for ragtag teenage boys always some some place a curb, a barn, abandoned storefront your safe space hop out the window for a world of new mistakes sweet regretful memories that still give chase and it hits it hits in fits of guilt and love a lily lilting off to find the sun like bruises blooming into flowers on our knees, elbows and craniums weren't built for life so dumb even if I tried I couldn't shake you and if I could why would I want to? your trusty sidekicks wondering "what we gonna do?" you were James Dean you were troubled I was glue

sad pill 03:48
a stack of self help studies steer the table straight canceled appointments keep the calendar abreast grateful employers toast to your accomplishments and a parcel waits with patience and egress there's a pill next to the water sip it slow a last ditch wish for motivations has moved on see the twinge of hope snuffed out and grown cold set the record, it's the wreckage you create set the table and the choices on your plate the balance shifted to benefit your mess your narcissistic sickness fueled your selfishness it's the same scene we replayed for umpteen years can't bare reliving in front of children's tender ears please care for yourself as though you always have carve aside a time, remember how to laugh and be ready for the weekends will appear with opportunities to show them that you care one last line before we leave you a sentence rife with sentiment a regiment meant to remember keep the molecules in check though we leave you I still need you in their lives theres a pill next to the water sip it slow

about

The first foray into splitting kitchen experiment into two groups. Originally planned as just singer/songwriter jive, then quickly realizing that Tom and Paul were much more than just a backing band or supporting cast.
Written (except for Sad Pill) during lockdown/quarantine/self imposed reclusivity.

about

Kitchen Experiment Band/Solo Chicago, Illinois

Nate Meads’ Kitchen Experiment (solo/band) has been playing left of the dial influenced folk-rock with a revolving cast since mid 2000’s. Kitchen Experiment Band is like a restaurant that's loud and busy. Kitchen Experiment Solo is the small cafe off to the side that's a little less 'in your face'. The FOH and BOH staff come/go/come back, but it's the same guy writing the menu and recipes. ... more
